Katie Couric will host an all-star salute to the former CNN talkshow presenter on November 14 at New York City's Sheraton Hotel.
Comics Kathy Griffin, Joy Behar and Joan Rivers will take part in the black-tie gala, as will musicians Tony Bennett and Jon Bon Jovi.
Regis Philbin, Dan Rather, Matt Lauer and Wolf Blitzer will also be on hand to discuss King's contributions to the news industry.
The Friars' Club dinner will not be a traditional roast, but rather a "testimonial dinner" where guests will pay tribute to King's accomplishments.
King recently admitted that he agonised over leaving CNN last December after more than 25 years as the host of Larry King Live.
The presenter returned to CNN earlier this month for a special interview with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides star Johnny Depp.
