Kate Winslet has said that she started to put on a bra before escaping the fire at Richard Branson's holiday home in August.

The Titanic actress, who was staying at the Caribbean home with her children and her boyfriend Louis Dowler when a fire broke out, confessed that she reacted to the news in an unexpected manner.

"We woke up at 4.30 in the morning to yelling that there was a fire," Winslet told The Graham Norton Show. "I jumped up and ran immediately towards the fire but then realised we might die... then thought 'Now what do I do?' so I ran into the bedroom and put on a bra!"

Winslet went on to say that she was surprised by her behaviour.

"In disastrous moments like that, you do the strangest things," she continued. "I started to put on a bra and thought "No, that's going to take me too long', so off came the bra, on came the T-shirt.

"Then I grabbed the children and I picked up granny," Winslet concluded, referring to Branson's mother, whom she rescued from the fire in question.
