Brett Ratner has said that he is not nervous about the the 84th Academy Awards in 2012.

The Tower Heist director, who is producing the next Oscars telecast, revealed that he was relieved to learn that the action comedy's star Eddie Murphy will be hosting next year's ceremony.

"If I didn't have Eddie Murphy as the host, I might be nervous," Ratner told Collider.

He continued: "I didn't know I would be producing the Oscars when I got the job for Tower Heist, so it wasn't part of my plan.

"I just knew that I needed a comedian, because of the fact that Billy Crystal and Johnny Carson and Bob Hope were the three best hosts ever, because it was comedic. They were great. So I said, 'Well, if I can get Eddie Murphy, then I'm a home run.' That's what I did and I got him... I guess I had some good will because he loved the movie."

Murphy recently joked that that he will be a disastrous host at the upcoming Academy Awards, claiming the ceremony will end with him urinating on himself on live television.

Hugh Jackman recently told Digital Spy that he thinks Murphy is "the perfect choice" to host the 2012 Academy Awards.
