The Help actress confirmed last week that she and husband Julius Tennon had adopted a daughter called Genesis earlier this month. She had revealed in August that the couple were part way through a domestic adoption.
"She's wonderful. A complete and total blessing for us," Davis told Us Weekly at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala.
Davis and Tennon married in 2003. This is the first child for the couple, though Tennon is a father of two from a previous relationship.
Davis can next be seen alongside Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which opens in limited release in US cinemas on December 25 and in the UK on February 3, 2012.
