Shane Warne opens new Melbourne bar named Club 23

Shane Warne has decided to host a small party to celebrate the opening of his new Melbourne bar on Thursday night (October 27).

The former Test cricketer, who recently announced his engagement to model and actress Liz Hurley, quietly opened Club 23 last week but has now invited about 50 close friends to an intimate gathering at the venue.

According to the Herald Sun, Crown casino boss James Packer and his wife Erica will attend, as well as Club 23's co-owner Joe Hachem.

Hurley is also believed to be attending after flying into Australia with son Damian on Monday morning.

Warne is scheduled to host an official launch party on November 7 with a rumoured celebrity guestlist including golfer Tiger Woods.

During her visit, Hurley will reportedly attend the Melbourne Cup with Warne. His ex-wife Simon Callahan is also attending some of the race carnival events, but her boyfriend Toby Roberts insisted that they would not go to the same parties as Warne and Hurley in case it turned into a "circus".

Callahan recently revealed that her confidence took a "beating" after she found out about her ex-husband's relationship with Hurley late last year. The couple were thought to still be living together at the time.
