Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has revealed the reason behind the dramatic new look she showcased alongside the band's latest album.

The singer appeared in the video for 'Golden Lion' with a drastic bowl cut hairstyle, which she decided on after her relationship with director Spike Jonze ended last year.

She told Contactmusic: "It came from me. My hair was getting long. Haircuts come with break-ups. It's a liberating thing. It's new me. It's healthy hair you know? I condition every day."
