Kelly Clarkson has commented that she is thankful she never fell victim to the trappings of fame.

The 'Mr Know It All' singer joked that her fans should never expect to see her embroiled in scandal or seeking treatment for substance abuse like other celebrities.

She joked to USA Today: "I have no controversy. You don't see me in rehab, or you don't see me coming out with my hey-haw showing.

"There's not much to report. So when anything little is reported, it's like 'Oh, my God, she wasn't wearing make-up'… I'm not held to anything. And I don't wear make-up when I don't want to wear make-up."

Clarkson also revealed that she has aspirations to write and star in her own Broadway musical.

"I think at some point in my 30s, I don't know if I want to do a revival show or something, like bring back Funny Girl, or start a completely-from-scratch musical," she revealed.

"That's something I really want to do. I love Broadway."

Clarkson previously said she wishes she would have enjoyed her early success.

She will perform alongside Florence + the Machine and Jessie J on VH1's 2011 Divas Celebrates Soul concert.
