Heather Locklear: 'I wish I had my daughter's confidence'

Heather Locklear has said that she admires her 14-year-old daughter Ava's self-confidence.

The Melrose Place actress praised Ava for securing a role in an upcoming Judd Apatow comedy, saying that the teen "nailed" her audition despite not having any real acting experience.

"I always say I want to come back as Ava Sambora. She has such confidence," Locklear told People.

"She's amazing. I was like, 'Ava, did you do the thing where you have to get on your mark?' And she was like, 'Oh yeah Mum, it was fine'. Like she has done it forever.

"It's not like we do this in our house! We don't go, 'Let's play movie making - get on your mark.'"

Locklear announced her engagement to long-time boyfriend Jack Wagner in August 2011.

She has said that Ava - whose father is Richie Sambora - is "so happy" with the news of her mother's impending marriage.
