Sir Jimmy Savile's fans will be given the opportunity to pay their respects to the entertainer.

The closed coffin of the broadcaster, who passed away on Saturday two days before his 85th birthday, will be taken to The Queen's Hotel in Leeds on Tuesday, November 8, where members of the public can visit between 9am and 4pm.

A public requiem mass will be held at St Anne's Cathedral on Wednesday, November 9 before a burial on Thursday in Scarborough.

It is believed that many of Savile's famous friends will attend the funeral, as well as representatives from the charities he raised money for and members of the public.

Radio DJ Tony Blackburn has described his former colleague as a "complete one-off", while Ricky Gervais referred to him as "a proper British eccentric".

His nephew Roger Foster also paid tribute to his uncle outside his flat following his death. "Jimmy was a wonderful man," he said. "His public face is well-known but we knew him as much more than an uncle, he was a very good friend. Jimmy will be sadly missed by very many people."
