Amy Winehouse didn't want to leave Blake Fielder-Civil, says mother

Amy Winehouse struggled with the decision to divorce her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, her mother Janis has claimed.
The late 'Back To Black' singer was married to Fielder-Civil between 2007 and 2009, during which time he allegedly sparked her addictions to a variety of illegal substances.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Janis recalled that her daughter had been torn between her love for Fielder-Civil and a desire to turn her life around.
"Amy loved Blake, but love can be blind," she said. "I don't blame Blake or anyone else for what happened to our daughter. Amy was Amy. She did what she wanted.
"She used to say, 'I know I can't be with Blake anymore' - but that didn't mean she didn't want to be with him. It was hard for her to leave him, just as it was hard for her to leave the drugs; but she wanted to turn over a new leaf. The divorce from Blake gave her the impetus to do that."
Janis added that Amy was embarrassed by her drug and alcohol dependencies and often put on a brave face for the sake of her family.
"Amy didn't like to talk about her addiction," she said. "But it was there for all the world to see. To everyone else it was Amy Winehouse, but all I could think was, 'That's my baby'.
"She used to say to me, whenever there was something about her in the papers, 'Look, Mum, I'm still here! They said this and that, but look, I'm still here!'"
Winehouse's father Mitch said in September that Fielder-Civil was not responsible for the star's death.
