The musical comedian brought his Heritage Orchestra performance to the famous London concert hall this year and a live DVD of the show is available now.
Asked what it was like to play such venues, Minchin told Digital Spy: "You have these two parts of your brain - one which just tackles the problem.
"I'm doing arenas, I have an orchestra, how are we going to make this the best possible show for people in the audience?
"In that way it's really simple. You just think of the space, you think of your job and you do it."
He added: "This other part of the brain, when I was 28, seven or eight years ago, if I had looked forward to now I would have just died.
"It would have just blown my head. I would have felt incapable of doing that. But seven to eight years is a long time to learn."
Minchin added that the Tim Minchin and the Heritage Orchestra DVD is "incredibly cool fun".
