Adam Sandler 'offered Tom Cruise wife swap over Katie Holmes'

Adam Sandler has joked that he offered to swap wives with Tom Cruise while filming Jack & Jill.

The actor, who plays his own twin in the new comedy, revealed during an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman that Cruise felt it was "weird" watching wife Katie Holmes play partners with Sandler on-screen.

Sandler said that he suggested to Cruise that his own wife Jackie might be interested in a new husband for the duration of shooting.

"It's a PG movie, no worries, nothing is going to happen. In fact, anything I do with your wife in the movie, you can do with my wife," Sandler recalled telling Cruise.

"So every morning I'd go to the set and hear 'please do a love scene. Please slowly take your shirt off in that scene and rub her ever so tenderly'."

Sandler recently confessed that he had trouble hiding his genitals in the female costumes he wore in Jack & Jill.
