Deborra-Lee Furness: 'Hugh Jackman's a sportsman, but I was a jock'

Deborra-Lee Furness dropped in to Melbourne Heart Football Club for a game during her charity trip to Australia earlier this week.

The Australian actress, who is married to Real Steel star Hugh Jackman, said that she enjoyed kicking a ball around at AAMI Park with Kristian Sarkies, Jason Hoffman and David Williams.

When asked about her husband, Furness told the Herald Sun: "Let's just say my husband is more of a sportsman, but I used to be a jock. I was captain of the basketball team and cricket team."

Furness has left Jackman and their adopted children Oscar and Ava back in New York during her current visit to Australia. During her trip, she will highlight National Adoption Awareness Week and will help raise money for the Fight Cancer Foundation at the Red Ball on Saturday night.

She also revealed that the family will be spending Christmas in the US this year.

"Hugh's on Broadway and the kids are in school," she said. "We have one Christmas here and one there, so this year it's a white Christmas."

Since adopting their children, Furness has been a regular spokesperson for adoption. Jackman has also recently launched a charity coffee company that will help raise money for various causes.
