Haley Joel Osment has been hospitalised after losing control of his car.

The actor, who rose to fame with his role in The Sixth Sense, was driving home at 1am when he crashed into a brick pillar, flipping the vehicle.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lieutenant Greg Sisneros told the Associated Press that the 18-year-old was conscious after the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Osment is thought to have now been released but it is unknown whether he suffered any injuries.
