Melissa McCarthy becomes Ivory soap spokesperson

Melissa McCarthy has become a celebrity spokesperson for Ivory soap.

The Mike & Molly actress will host Ivory's online chatshow 'Soap Dish' on Facebook to discuss her strategies for marriage and parenting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

McCarthy revealed that her connection to Ivory soap dates back to her childhood.

"I grew up using Ivory, and that smell always reminds me of when I was a kid," McCarthy recalled.

"As a working mum of two, I love anything that simplifies my life. So when one bar of soap can handle backyard dirt, spaghetti hands and the unidentified crusty bits under my girls' necks, I'm in."

Ivory has described McCarthy's involvement and recent marketing changes as a "holistic reinvention" of its brand.

Emmy winner McCarthy recently revealed that she was once fired from a waitressing job for yelling at a customer who failed to pay his bill.

Mike & Molly airs Mondays at 9.30/8.30c on CBS.
