The likes of Michael McIntyre may be the flavour of the month at the moment, but few British stand-up comedians have the lasting appeal of Billy Connolly.

Since the 1970s, The Big Yin has had audiences eating out of the palm of his hand, and despite moving into acting with some straight and comedic roles in the last couple of decades, it's on stage where he still excels.

His latest comedy DVD Billy Connolly: You Asked for It is released this week and compiles his best clips - three of which you can watch below - alongside his first ever live TV performance.




A double pack of Billy Connolly: You Asked For It together with Billy Connolly: Live In London 2010 is also available.

Connolly was recently named the sixth-best British stand-up comedian working today by readers of Digital Spy.

He had previously come joint second with McIntyre behind Peter Kay in a poll to find the 'Greatest British Comedian' from Greenall's gin.
