Justin Bieber speaks on "unfortunate" paternity allegation - video

Justin Bieber has responded to the paternity allegation made against him by Mariah Yeater, describing the situation as "unfortunate".

Yeater has accused the teenager of fathering her 3-month-old child following an alleged meeting after a concert, although Bieber and his representatives have strongly denied the claim, saying that he has never even met Yeater.

Bieber was asked for his thoughts on the situation during an interview on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show this week, where he described the accusation as "false" and "unfortunate".

"Right now I'm focusing on my album and the music and the charity we're doing... and just being positive because Christmas is a time for joy and happiness - that's what I'm thinking," said Bieber.

"As far as the whole baby situation, it's unfortunate it had to happen like that and people make false accusations, but things happen in this industry and you just have to keep your head high and be positive. That's all I really have to say."

Bieber went on to joke that he would have preferred to be the subject of a different rumour, saying: "If it was up to me it would have been a better story like 'Justin Bieber went off to South America with this 27-year-old supermodel'.

"That would have been an awesome rumour!"

Bieber's manager Scooter Braun then stepped forward to share his thoughts, saying: "I don't usually talk in front of the mic but bottom line is they said they were in settlement talks with us. The only thing I want to say is they will never be in settlement talks with us, we will never settle with them.

"That's my little guy right there and I protect him. They messed with the wrong crew. It's false and people should be held accountable when they run out there and say this stuff."

Braun added: "They have this lawyer out there running around and saying, 'We want everything to be held confidential now'. You don't get to go out there and badmouth a 17-year-old kid and suddenly think it will stay confidential. We won't go away quietly."

Bieber is currently promoting his Christmas album Under The Mistletoe and single 'Mistletoe'. He will also appear on a series of festive programmes over the next few weeks including TNT's Christmas In Washington and NBC's Christmas At Rockefeller Centre.
