Heather Locklear, Jack Wagner 'called off engagement over pressure'

Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner called off their engagement because planning their wedding put too much pressure on their children.

The Melrose Place stars got engaged in August after dating for four years, but announced they were ending their plans to marry last week.

Wagner has now revealed to TMZ that the pressure of putting together a lavish wedding took its toll on their relationship and left them little time to spend together.

The actor also explained that he and Locklear had decided against living together with their children from previous relationships because they believed a blended family would be hard on the kids.

Wagner insisted that he and Locklear "still love each other very much" and will remain in contact.

The pair played on-off lovers on Melrose Place for several seasons, with their characters eventually faking their own deaths so they could runaway together.

Locklear was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee for seven years and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora from 1994 to 2007.

Wagner has two sons with ex-wife Kristina Wagner, who he divorced in 2006.
