Sir Sean Connery is the greatest British hero, according to a poll carried out by Thorpe Park.

The theme park will name 20 of the seats on the new Stealth ride after the table-toppers in the survey, and the former Bond actor has come out on top.

Sir Steve Redgrave and Jamie Oliver came in second and third, while Bob Geldof and Sir Richard Branson also make the top five.

The top ten is completed by David Beckham, Robbie WIlliams, Jonathan Ross, Ewan McGregor and Dame Kelly Holmes.

As well as the 20 heroes, the names of members of the public could be engraved on the ride. A charity auction will take place for this honour, with all proceeds going to the NSPCC.
