The Adams Memorial Library was forced to temporarily close its doors amid the financial crisis hitting the town of Central Falls, RI in July, according to The AP.
Davis, who grew up in Central Falls, donated $1,000 (£641) to help resume operations at the library, which has also received a $3,500 (£2,246) state grant.
The library has reopened on a part-time basis and plans to return to a full-time schedule on December 1.
30 Rock star Alec Baldwin and politician Elizabeth Crowley have also given money to the Adams Memorial Library in recent months.
Davis and husband Julius Tennon recently adopted a baby daughter named Genesis, with the actress describing the baby girl as "awesome".
She will next star with Tom Hanks in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which opens on limited release in US cinemas on December 25 and in the UK on February 3, 2012.
