George Michael's boyfriend has declared that the singer's condition is improving.

The 'Careless Whisper' singer was hospitalised on Monday with "severe" pneumonia in Vienna, Austria.

Hairdresser Fadi Fawaz, who is dating the star, told the Sunday Mirror: "George is doing well and is in good spirits. I have been seeing him each day and he is getting stronger all the time.

"George is trying to stay upbeat. He is smiling through it all and everyone is just willing him to get better."

Addressing rumours that Michael's physical state is deteriorating with the life-threatening lung infection, he continued: "A lot of what has been reported isn't true.

"I've been with him every day and his condition is getting better. His family and friends are very happy with his care. He is in the best place, getting the treatment he needs."

Thanking fans, Fawaz added: "George has had so many get-well wishes and that has really been wonderful. It has helped to keep his spirits up."

Following doctors' advice, the 48-year-old has cancelled all the remaining dates of his UK Symphonica tour.
