Mindy Kaling: 'I'd make a great gynecologist'

Mindy Kaling has said that she thinks she would have been a great gynecologist.

The Office star revealed that she would like to develop a sitcom in which she plays a gynecologist.

"Being a woman who loves other women and talks to my girlfriends every day, I think - without sounding too into myself - I would be a dream OB-GYN," Kaling told the Los Angeles Times.

"In another world, I think that would've been a nice career for me. It would be fun to have me as a gynecologist!"

Kaling went on to compare the medical profession to being a comedy writer.

"The hours being an OB-GYN are weirdly similar to my hours as a comedy writer," the actress insisted. "They are completely different paths but strangely similar enough. Well-compensated, very long hours where if you don't love what you're doing it's not worth it, disruptive to family and social life."

Kaling has previously praised The Office guest star Will Ferrell for his ability to be effortlessly funny.
