Murray was sentenced to the maximum four years in jail on Tuesday, after being found guilty of Michael Jackson's involuntary manslaughter earlier this month
The mother of the late singer spoke to KTLA on her way out of court, saying that the judge was fair. However, she added that the sentence is still "not enough for someone's life".
"Four years won't bring my son back," Katherine said.
Murray will likely only serve half of the four-year sentence behind bars.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor earlier refused to grant Murray's request for probation.
Murray was reportedly placed on suicide watch at Los Angeles County Jail earlier this month, though the doctor's attorney denied the claims.
