The comic took to his blog to reveal that he had an unfortunate mishap prior to his appearance on UK talkshow Chatty Man alongside Life's Too Short co-star Warwick Davis.
"Did Chatty Man with Warwick last night. It was fun but I'd pulled a muscle in my back weight training (again)," Gervais wrote.
Gervais added jokingly: "I was hobbling and crooked. I said to [Chatty Man host] Alan [Carr], 'I'm bent out of all proportion'."
It was announced this week that Life's Too Short will begin airing in the US on February 19.
Gervais has defended the show against criticism that lead actor Davis is being exploited by saying: "People need to see the difference between programmes that satirise/highlight/reflect exploitation, and programmes that actually exploit."
Davis has dismissed any connection to the fictionalised version of himself that he plays in Life's Too Short.
