The 'Skyscraper' singer told followers on her Twitter account that she felt "honoured" to share her story with the women at the Timberline Knolls residential treatment centre.
Lovato wrote: "Wow what an inspiring day... Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today.
"Today I went back to the treatment centre I went to last year, to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons... was so honoured. To be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier. Life is beautiful.... You are worthy of it."
Lovato added: "Please say a prayer for all of those struggling with eating disorders, self harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse."
The 19-year-old spoke about her journey over the past year in a Thanksgiving column for Seventeen magazine, thanking her family for their support.
"I could not have done this without God and the amazing support from my family. They have stuck by me through everything and love me just the way that I am. That is a wonderful feeling to know that people accept the real you," she wrote.
"I'm thankful for my life path, including the highs and the lows, because it has caused my true self to shine through."
Lovato recently completed a ten-date tour of the US in support of her third studio album Unbroken, which features the chart-topping single 'Skyscraper'.
