The actor - real name Anthony Borgese - was ordered to serve six months of house arrest and two years of probation for allegedly arranging a mob collection that left a man injured.
Darrow is accused of having an associate of the Gambino crime family break the jaw and ribs of a man while collecting a $5,000 (£3,198) debt, reports The Wrap.
He agreed to plead guilty to the charge and film a PSA about the dangers of organised crime in order to be spared prison time.
Darrow has starred in films for many acclaimed directors, including Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas and the Woody Allen comedy Small Time Crooks.
The star played 'Larry Boy' Barese on all six seasons of The Sopranos.
