Kristin Cavallari: 'I still loved Jay Cutler while we were broken up'

Kristin Cavallari has said that she still loved Jay Cutler while they were broken up.

The Hills star first became engaged to the American football player in April. The couple split several months later before reuniting last month.

"Sometimes, in order for things to get better, they have to end - even if it's momentarily," Cavallari explained to People. "And that was the case with us."

She went on to say that the two remained in love even after ending their first engagement.

"We didn't break up because of love lost," she said. "We loved each other just as much as we always did when we weren't together.

"We broke up, and we were still talking during that whole time."

The pair was first rumoured to be getting re-engaged in November.
