Emma Roberts has suggested that she's matured as an actress over the last few years.

The 20-year-old star rose to fame in the family films Aquamarine and Nancy Drew, but has taken on more serious roles in movies like The Art of Getting By as she's grown older.

Roberts said in an interview with Yahoo that she has enjoyed exploring more "adult" roles.

"I love doing kind of more kiddish-oriented movies, but I also love doing adult things. And I think it's fun to do a mix," she explained. "You know, things where you're playing your age and things that maybe are more mature."

The star continued: "So, I just kind of take my stuff based on the material and not so much [based on] how old I'm supposed to be or what the audience is supposed to [think]."

Roberts was recently rumoured to dating Glee star Chord Overstreet, after being spotted with the actor in London and Malibu.

When quizzed about the romance, Roberts said: "I would love to just not even answer that question because... that's kind of awkward. I just don't like talking about my relationships or anything like that, in any reference."

Roberts will next star opposite Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in Celeste and Jesse Forever, which will be released in 2012.
