Brooke Mueller checks into 'long-term' rehab

Brooke Mueller has entered a "long-term, in-patient rehab treatment centre".

Charlie Sheen's former wife, who was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession earlier this month, was first rumoured to be considering aggressive measures to combat her substance abuse problems over the weekend.

Mueller's rep Steve Honig has since confirmed to People that Mueller has checked into an unknown facility but released no further information.

"Brooke has decided to remove herself from the media spotlight... [so] she can focus on her recovery without distraction," Honig said in a statement. "Brooke's goal is to maintain her sobriety, and she believes this is the best option to reach that goal."

Mueller will apparently keep custody of her and Sheen's twin sons, Max and Bob, while undergoing treatment.

This is Mueller's second time in rehab this year. She previously attempted an "extreme" plant therapy method in Mexico in July.
