The Someone To Watch Over Me singer admitted that she used to lash out due to her crippling "insecurities".
"My insecurities were building day by day in a vice-like grip," she told The Sun. "But after a good talking to I'm learning to be happy.
"[I'm] learning to accept what my life has become, learning to control my temper and, above all, enjoying the moments I am experiencing now."
Boyle reportedly admitted last weekend that she can still feel her late mother's spirit in the home they shared.
"'I've actually seen my mother in the house," she is quoted as saying. "I think she was letting me know she was all right. There was a lovely smell. Perhaps it was her perfume, I'm not sure."
