The Fresh Meat star, who was nominated in the 'People's King or Queen of Comedy' category at last night's British Comedy Awards, revealed at the ceremony that suggestions that he will be moving to the US are false.
On potential Hollywood roles, Whitehall said: "Not yet, I haven't been offered any, I'm still waiting. You hear rumours all the time about stuff and you don't know what's got weight behind it, so you just try and ignore it all."
However, the comedian did suggest that he could turn to more serious acting parts, adding: "Yeah, maybe [I could do serious roles]. But I always get worried when you see comedians do serious acting, so only if it was the right thing.
"When I was at school, I was in A Midsummer's Night Dream and had a s**t part, so I'd like to do that again but have a proper role. Then my drama teacher can watch it and be, ooh, maybe I should have cast him, instead of being a fairy at the back of the stage for a couple of hours."
Whitehall was recently confirmed to be starring in a new sitcom for BBC Three entitled Bad Education, where he will play "the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system".
