Long before the likes of Brian Cox picked up the baton, astronomer, astrophysicist, cosmologist and author Carl Sagan did more than anyone to popularise and communicate science to the public.
His 13-part series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage - created with Ann Druyan and Steven Soter - changed the way science was shown on TV forever.
To mark the 15th anniversary of his sad passing in 1996 at the age of 62, we can't think of any better tribute than to feature this wonderful music video from John Boswell's Symphony of Science project.
The film includes clips from Cosmos together with guest vocals from Stephen Hawking's Universe series.
The track was given a vinyl release by Jack White's Third Man Records label in 2009. The classy 7"s feature an etching of the diagram from the Voyager Golden Record on the B-side.
Earlier this year, it emerged that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane would collaborate with Sagan's widow Druyan for Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, which will air on Fox in 2013.
