George Michael may spend Christmas in Vienna hospital, says doctor

George Michael may have to spend Christmas in his hospital in Vienna after a doctor cast fresh doubt over the speed of his recovery.

The Wham! singer's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz seemed to confirm the opposite on Sunday, but Christoph Zielinski of Vienna's General Hospital said that the timing of his return to the UK is still to be discussed.

The 48-year-old was hospitalised with "severe" pneumonia last month, which led to him cancelling the rest of his 'Symphonica' tour.

Despite being unclear on when Michael will leave the hospital, Zielinski was positive on his condition, telling ORF Radio: "We know that he is doing well. And we are generally optimistic."

Previous reports have indicated that, while the star is "recovering steadily", his voice could be damaged by surgery.
