Michael was released from AKH hospital in Vienna on Thursday (December 23), when he was judged to be in good health by his doctors.
The 'Careless Whisper' singer has since flown to the UK to spend Christmas with his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, who had remained at his bedside for the past several weeks.
An emotional Michael spoke to the press outside his home in North London today to assure his fans that he is beginning to feel better.
"I am very weak but I feel amazing," he said. "It was by far the worst month of my life, but I'm incredibly, incredibly fortunate to be here."
The star admitted that it was "touch and go for a while", but thanked his doctors in Vienna for saving his life.
Michael went on to say that the thought of spending more time with his loved ones gave him the strength to carry on.
"My family, the thought of all the people I still had to play to, the fact that I've been so lucky and the fact that I still have plenty to live for. I've had an amazing, amazing life and if I wasn't spiritual enough before the last four to five weeks, then I certainly am now," he said.
He also revealed that he wants to play a free show for the doctors and medical staff in Vienna, adding: "I spent the last ten days since I woke up thanking people for saving my life, which is something I've never had to do before."
Michael was first hospitalised for pneumonia ahead of a concert in Strasbourg, France late last month.
The illness proved so severe that he was forced to cancel the remaining dates on his 'Symphonica' tour.
Earlier this month, Fawaz said he was hopeful that Michael would be able to return home for Christmas because he was "getting better and better" every day.
