Wayne Rooney is reportedly planning to have a £48,000 horse stable built for Coleen as a Christmas gift.

The footballer wants his wife to keep her £70,000 pony in the grounds of their £4m Cheshire mansion to save her travelling 45 minutes to Warrington.

"Coleen is horse-mad," The Sun quotes a friend of the couple as saying. "She loves her horse and loves riding to keep fit. He knows how much she'd like to be closer to it.

"She will be thrilled. As long as the plans are accepted by the local authority, they should be up and running early next year."

Coleen is also said to be planning to buy 2-year-old son Kai a pony after his first riding lesson in September was a success.

"Coleen's really excited," the source added. "She's really looking forward to being able to go out riding with Kai when he's a bit older."

Wayne bought Coleen her 'schoolmaster' pony for Christmas back in 2006.

Highly trained or experienced, 'schoolmasters' are usually older horses which allow their owners to pick up certain skills in specialist areas - for example dressage, endurance racing or show jumping.
