The Celebrity Apprentice star recently dropped out of moderating a Republican presidential debate because he said he was still considering running for office as an independent candidate.
Trump has distanced himself from the Republican Party further by officially changing his political affiliation from Republican to 'unaffiliated', his rep confirmed to The AP.
The mogul's special counsel Michael Cohen also revealed that if Trump chooses to enter the race as an independent candidate, he will likely fund his campaign with his own money.
Trump first claimed he was considering running for high office earlier this year, but quit the race in order to focus on The Celebrity Apprentice.
The Celebrity Apprentice premieres its new season on Sunday, February 12 at 9/8c on NBC.
