The 'Edge of Glory' singer has been personally selected by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to ring in 2012, reports Page Six.
The mayor traditionally picks a public figure to kick off the ball dropping and in previous years has selected former US President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
GaGa will be in Times Square for the holiday to perform alongside Justin Bieber on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
She will also appear live via satellite from New York City on Japan's New Year's Eve broadcast Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
GaGa unveiled the new track 'Stuck on F**kin You' as a present for her fans on Christmas Day.
