The NFL legend officially filed paperwork to end his marriage in a Texas court on December 21, according to TMZ.
Sanders said in court documents that the split was caused by "discord or conflict" that won't allow for "any reasonable expectation of reconciliation".
The couple wed on May 21, 1999 and are the parents to three children, Shilo, Shedeur and Shelom.
Sander was previously married to Carolyn Chambers, with whom he has son Deion Jr and daughter Deiondra.
The athlete, who was nicknamed 'Prime Time' during his football career, currently works as an analyst for the NFL Network.
Sanders, also a professional baseball player for a time, retired from football in 2006 and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in August.
He has also acted in the series Are We There Yet? and hosted a 1995 episode of Saturday Night Live.
