Ryan Gosling and Zooey Deschanel are among a group of actors who are criticising McDonalds's alleged mistreatment of hens.
The actors have joined with Mercy For Animals to object to McDonalds's alleged use of 'battery cages' to house the hens who supply their eggs.
Gosling has written a personal letter to McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner to ask for better treatment of the company's animals.

The Mercy For Animals campaign has also earned the support of stars Kristin Bauer, Ed Begley, Jr, Steve-O and Alicia Silverstone.
McDonalds have denied any mistreatment of its animals and recently severed its business relationship with a supplier that was accused of cruelty to its livestock.
Gosling recently admitted that The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes was initially unimpressed with his "regular" looks.
The actor stars alongside Emma Stone and Sean Penn in Gangster Squad, which opens on October 19, 2012 in the US and November 9 in the UK.
