The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, celebrating its 25th year, topped the list of the most in-demand theatre tickets from online ticket marketplace viagogo.
Ben Elton's Queen jukebox musical We Will Rock You finished in second place, followed by Les Misérables in third.
Webber's Love Never Dies, the long-planned sequel to Phantom of the Opera, was placed 18th on the list. The production closed in the West End on August 27, but a new version has opened in Australia.
Director of viagogo Ed Parkinson said: "Our data demonstrates that the British classics have dominated the theatre scene this year.
"In early 2011 Royal Wedding fever ignited the British flame and still audiences are flocking to see the nations best-loved musicals, favourite actors and traditional British plays."
Non-musical comedy One Man, Two Guvnors was in fourth place, followed by horror story The Woman In Black.
