The I'm Not There actor will be saluted for his career achievements and charity work at a February 16 gala, reports The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
The dinner is to be held in Rochester, New York at the George Eastman House, where photography magnate Eastman lived for many years.
Meryl Streep, Lauren Bacall and Hugo director Martin Scorsese have all received the George Eastman Award in previous years.
Gere will next appear on the big screen opposite Tim Roth and Susan Sarandon in Arbitrage, which is to be released in 2012.
Earlier this year, the star put his prized collection of guitars up for auction to benefit several charities.
