The Runaways actress said that she differs from her peers as she has never experienced an identity crisis or doubted herself.
"Since I was young, I've always known who I was," Fanning explained in a new interview with Cosmopolitan.
"I never really had to go through finding who I am. I've always felt really secure."
The 17-year-old graduated from college in June 2011 and is currently enrolled at New York University.
Fanning has confessed that she did not want to miss the college experience and miss out on pursuing higher education while still young.
Dakota's younger sister Elle Fanning has said that she wants to follow in her older sibling's footsteps and attend college when she finishes high school.
