Chaz Bono: 'I want to take a woman out dancing'

Chaz Bono has said that he is ready to begin dating again after his break-up from ex-fiancée Jennifer Elia.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant proposed to Elia in November 2011, but the pair called off their engagement a month later for unknown reasons.

Bono has since said that he wants to put the skills he learned on the ABC dance competition to use in real life, by using his moves to impress women.

"I want to start dancing again. What a great skill - to be able to take a woman dancing... and actually know what you're doing!" Bono told People.

The author and activist, who announced his intention to undergo a sex change in 2009, went on to say that he hopes potential partners will be able to see past the fact that he is transgender.

"People focus on what's between your legs. If I never have bottom surgery [the procedure by which a penis is created], I'm fine. I feel 100% male as I am," Bono explained.
