Police are investigating How Clean Is Your House? star Kim Woodburn's claim that she buried her stillborn baby in a park in the 1960s.

They were alerted after the host made the revelation in her autobiography, currently being serialised in the Mail on Sunday.

She says she gave birth to a baby boy four months early after splitting up with its father. In the book, called Unbeaten, she goes on to say she took it wrapped in a towel to a park near the Liverpool hospital.

"I put the baby on the ground and then knelt down and started digging with the spoon," she wrote. "As I gouged the earth, tears streamed down my face. I brushed them away with my dirty hands.

"When I felt I had dug down deep enough, I lowered my precious little boy into the hole and wrapped the towel around him before slowly replacing the earth."

The star, then called Pat, then changed her name, moved house and later became a model and beauty therapist.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police confirmed they were looking ino the apparent admission. She said: "We are assessing the article in the Mail on Sunday and will decide what action is necessary in due course."
