Tom Waterhouse wife Hoda Vakili 'lucky to be alive' after ski accident

Tom Waterhouse has revealed that his new wife Hoda Vakili is "lucky" to be alive after her skiing accident.
The Australian bookmaker, who married Vakili last year, said that she will need months of treatment after she suffered major damage to three vertebra in the Aspen incident just before Christmas.
Waterhouse told The Daily Telegraph: "One of the vertebrae shattered and there were fragments everywhere and one lodged only a millimetre from her spinal cord. She was so lucky - we both feel so lucky and so thankful. We've been home since just before Christmas and Hoda is still wearing a back brace and will need to for several more weeks.
"She can't drive, she has a lot of trouble sitting down and it's a struggle for her to walk. Hoda is not enjoying it but she's doing a lot of physio and knows the result [of her injuries] obviously could have been far more serious. So she's wearing the brace for now, and we'll see how it goes when it comes off - but there will be another three months treatment needed."
Stars including singer Ricki-Lee Coulter - who recently made her pop music comeback - sent their best wishes to the couple.
Coulter wrote on her Twitter page: "[Boyfriend] Rich [Harrison] & I just wanted to send some love to you & Hoda - hope she is better soon!"
