Chelsea Handler: "Vodka is a part of my life"

Chelsea Handler has said that alcohol is a part of her life.

The Chelsea Lately host and star of the upcoming comedy series Are You There, Chelsea? revealed that while she has had to cut back on her drinking habits since becoming famous, alcohol still holds a special place in her heart.

"Vodka is a part of my life. Absolutely. Tequila or vodka, depending on the day you get me," Handler told Us Weekly. "But to function as I do, I can't be a mess."

The comedian went on to say that she feels responsible for her co-workers.

"I feel a big responsibility to not only everyone who watches the show, but to everyone who is on the show and all the employees I have," Handler said. "We're creating jobs in a landscape where people aren't getting a lot of work.

"Our show is a great place to be, and when you walk in the door, you know it."

In November, Handler signed a new deal with E! for an estimated $25 million (£15.8m).

The 36-year-old, who has been linked romantically to 50 Cent in the past, recently split from her boyfriend Andre Balazs.
