Jim Stynes has revealed that he will never stop fighting his battle with cancer.
The 45-year-old former Australian Rugby League star, who has 10-year-old Matisse and 6-year-old Tiernan with wife Sam, said that it feels like a "blessing" that he is still alive despite being told by doctors that he was unlikely to live until Christmas.
Stynes told New Idea magazine: "For me, now, every day is a blessing. I don't look too far ahead. I can't, because I've had a miracle. I'm still alive. I'm just going to try to enjoy every second more than ever, because I did look death in the eyes.
"When the specialist says you have only a couple of weeks to live, you feel very lucky if you get another chance. So I'm going to make the most of it. I want to do as much as possible before I die!"
Stynes said that his treatment and various operations on his brain have been "pretty full on", adding: "I've been through the wringer but I'm still here. Everyone is different, but I have always been a fighter, never given up.
"Obviously it's a crazy, difficult journey. It can be very lonely for people who aren't lucky enough to have the support I do. We have worked through this journey together and we have held really strong."
