The reality star, who announced the end of her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries last year, was supposed to front shoe firm Skechers' upcoming Super Bowl campaign. However, they have instead decided to use a French bulldog.
Skechers president Leonard Armato told USA Today that they are grateful to Kardashian for her support in the past, but said that the firm is focusing on its new GOrun shoe range being launched as high-tech running equipment rather than fashion items.
"Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," he said. "[But] we have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company." Kardashian is believed to be partly responsible for the company's Facebook page gaining 300,000 fans in the last few months.
The new commercial now reportedly features the bulldog - wearing Skechers - racing a pack of greyhounds. However, animal rights group Grey2K USA has demanded that the company axes the advert, alleging that the greyhounds were mistreated and kept in cramped cages during filming.
Kardashian first broke the news that she was to star in Skechers adverts via her own website in February last year, later describing it as a "huge honour".
