The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has obtained a lien against Lohan in the amount of $93,701.57 (£60,630.17) on income received during the 2009 tax year which the actress failed to file, reports TMZ.
Lohan must repay the debt in full via a payment agreement or run the risk of having her car, home and bank account seized by the government.
Reps for the star did not return calls for comment.
Lohan was recently reported to be in talks to play legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime original biopic Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story.
A trespasser was arrested at Lohan's Los Angeles home on New Year's Day, after repeatedly knocking on her door and demanding to speak to her.
He has since been released and sentenced to probation. A restraining order has also been made which prevents the man from contacting Lohan or being within 100 yards of her until 2014.
