Executive producer Mark Burnett suggested to E! Online that the Teenage Dream singer's absence won't harm the ceremony.
"It's understandable," Burnett said. "Things like this happen all the time."
Burnett added: "The show is so jam-packed you're thinking, 'How are we going to fit it all in?'"
Hosted by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, singers Demi Lovato and Faith Hill will perform on the show, while Glee's Jane Lynch and Jimmy Fallon will perform sketches.
